A BOATHOUSE has been built at youth charity Avon Tyrell.
The new facility will be officially opened by Lord Manners, who owns the estate and donated it to the UK Youth charity in 1949, on October 3.
The building is the first of its kind in Hampshire. There will be solar panels producing enough energy to heat 6,000 litres of water a day for shower block and earn money from the grid.
The boathouse will have facilities for disabled users and a storehouse for boats and equipment used by UK Youth.
Fundraising director Louis Bonney said: “We will not only have an eco-friendly environment for our guests to enjoy but we can also help educate younger generations in the value of renewable energy and sustainable construction.”
