HAMPSHIRE TV personality Fred Dineage swapped his microphone for a gavel when opened a charity auction at the Meeting House in Ringwood on Saturday, September 27.
The Meridian presenter joined New Forest West MP Desmond Swayne and David Habbin from pop opera band Amici Forever to help raise money for Mencap.
The Meeting House was packed out with people bidding for 80 lots, including three tickets for an England match at Wembley, lunch for two at the House of Commons with Desmond Swayne and a free surfing lesson.
Matthew Lacey from Bonhams auctioneers in Winchester led the auction.
Organiser Wendy Lees, 78, from Ringwood, said that she wanted to give something back to the charity because of the support she has received for her son James, 51, who is a client of Mencap’s Hightown Road House in Ringwood.
