AN ALDERHOLT couple are to host a fun folk night to boost funds for horse welfare charity The Mare and Foal Sanctuary.
Pete and Jassie Barrett are selling tickets for the event on March 14 at Alderholt Village Hall, which features appearances from artists Jason Hinchey and No Fixed Abode. Pete said: “My wife and I have always loved horses, and online we saw this touching picture of a foal lying across a teddy bear.
“He had lost his mother and cuddled into the teddy bear for comfort, and when we saw that the picture came from The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, we looked up more about their work and were so impressed with what we saw.
“We really hope lots of people come along for a great night so we can give a healthy sum to the charity.”
Tickets are £9.50, also including an Irish stew supper, and are available by calling 07557 658098. The event starts at 7.30pm.
Sanctuary executive director Simon Avery added: “The photo of our orphan foal Breeze was very poignant and we’re delighted it led Pete and Jassie to find out about what we do.
“The sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes horses in need and Breeze’s story is one of hundreds we have helped turn around for the better.
“We are so pleased and touched to be chosen as the beneficiary, and hope lots of people go along for a great evening.”
