Ellingham and Ringwood Rugby Club Under 14’s squad have been given a boost of £600 to help them realise their dreams of cup glory.
Ringwood Town Council last week came to the aid of the sporting youngsters, pictured above, after they launched an appeal to raise £750 to go towards the costs of competing in a semi-final competition in the Isle of Wight.
Squad captain Aaron Moritzen made a presentation to the town council at a meeting last Wednesday.
The council agreed to award the team £400 towards the travel costs and the mayor, Cllr Barbara Woodifield, and Cllr Steve Rippon-Swaine each offered a further £100 each from their district council community grant.
Ellingham and Ringwood Rugby Club’s Under 14’s are due to face Vectis on Sunday as part of the Hampshire Cup.
