MUSIC lovers are invited to an afternoon of cheerful songs in Ringwood this Saturday in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Voices of the Forest choir is presenting its medley of songs from the Mediterranean and beyond at the Greyfriars Centre, Christchurch Road from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Led by musical director Fabian Lochner, the choir will sing a varied repertoire ranging from African American spirituals such as Go Down Moses, Wade in the Water and Union Train, to songs from Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Israel.

The choir’s rendition of popular Neapolitan song Funiculi Funicula will also be a firm favourite.

Tickets cost £8 including a cream tea and can be purchased from the Greyfriars Centre in advance or on the door.

The choir meets weekly in Emery Down and welcomes new members who enjoy singing and want to improve their voice, and take part in performances.

Choir chairman Cathy Sherrin said: “Do come along to Ringwood to listen to us, even if you are not interested in joining a choir.

"We love singing and performing and our audiences tell us they find our concerts uplifting and really enjoyable.”
