A LONG-SERVING school secretary in Verwood bid a fond farewell to pupils and staff after 25 years service.
Anne McAleer retired from her role at Hillside Community First School and has been praised for her service and loyalty.
She started her career at the school as a medical support for a child before moving on to her role as finance officer, clerk to the governors and school secretary.
In that role she managed the school’s finances and ran the office as well as tending to the many injuries of pupils, both minor and more major, as the designated first aider.
The school says Mrs McAleer has been an invaluable part of the school’s life, stepping into the roles of lunchtime supervisor, cleaner, lettings manager as needed - always putting the school first.
Head teacher Jeremy Harrison said: “Mrs McAleer has been a rock for the school. The service and loyalty that she has shown are rare qualities these days. She will be greatly missed by staff and pupils alike.”
