CHILDREN at Hyde Primary School welcomed a special visitor — Tippy the Easter pony.

On the penultimate day of school, before breaking up for Easter on Wednesday, the children took part in some Easter activities, including trying to guess Tippy's weight .

Tippy dressed especially for the occasion — sporting some bunny ears and flowers in his mane.

The winner of the competition was Millie LeFroy whose guess was the nearest to the pony's actual weight of 175kg.

The children also guessed how many Easter eggs were in a sweet jar. The mini eggs were divided between two winners - Olivia O'Shea and Riley Macallum.

These activities took place instead of an Easter Eggstravaganza which had to be cancelled.

Instead there will be a May Madness Spring Fair on Hyde Common on May 1 at Hyde Common from 3pm to 5pm, where there will be pony rides, maypole dancing, welly wanging, a spring bonnet competition and bake off contests.
