A CYCLIST who snatched a handbag in Burley is being sought by police.
Police say the robbery happened when a couple stopped off at Anderwood car park on Lyndhurst Road between 1.20pm and 1.40pm on Wednesday and took a short walk.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "As the victim’s husband was distracted with their young daughter, a cyclist snatched her handbag and cycled off."
The suspect is described as a white man wearing a black top and blue Bermuda-style shorts and a blue cycle helmet. He rode a matt grey mountain bike.
The black handbag contained a wallet, iPhone with a flower love heart design on it, a small paisley blue make-up bag, cash and bank cards.
Anyone with information is urged to contact PC Simon Hitchcock at Southampton central police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
