MAJESTIC shire horses, breathtaking showjumping and farm animals galore had visitors flocking to the Ellingham and Ringwood Show.

There was something for all ages at the event, which took place on Saturday at Somerley Park, including donkey rides and plenty of animals to see from sheep and cattle to a few more exotic creatures like meerkats and alpacas.

In the main ring visitors were able to watch the heavy horses on display, a hound parade, high jump and birds of prey.

The art and craft marquees housed a variety of creations such as paintings, photos, embroidery, wood turning pottery and more.

Demonstrations were given by Wareham D Spinners and Weavers and Christchurch Woodturners and chainsaw sculpting.

Visitors could also take a look at the vintage farm machinery on show as well as steam engines and an array of Austin Sevens.

One of the event organisers, Michael Lingam-Willgoss, said: “We were blessed with wonderful crowds and wonderful weather.

“We deliberately engineer it to keep it as a very traditional show – a show that can conjure up the fondest childhood memories of visits to the country.”
