A RURAL pre school has launched a fundraising campaign to complete the play area in its new premises.

Hyde Pre-School has returned to the Hyde Church Community Centre after a year of work to turn the former 40-year-old pre-fabricated building into a modern community facility.

Children and staff at the pre-school moved to Stuckton Church while the renovations, which cost £300,000, were taking place.

However, when the school returned to its former home, the play area resembled a building site and vital pre school funds were poured into making the outdoor area safe before it opened its doors to tots.

Now pre-school funds have depleted, Hyde Pre-School has embarked on its campaign to refill the coffers to install a sand pit, climbing frame and create a garden.

Manager Gina Dawkins said: "It took lots of work and kindness from supporters and parents to make the outdoor area safe and usable for the children. However we have no money left to finish the remainder of the work to make the play area as good as it was before our move.

"The community centre is a wonderful resource and we will no longer be cold in the winter as we were in the old pre-fabricated building, we will be lovely and cosy in our new building, but like many projects, the money is spent on the building work with little left for the outside areas."

Hyde Pre-School is holding a pamper evening at Hyde Church Centre on September 18 and 7pm.

Beauticians, therapists and craft sellers are being sought to take part in the evening of crafts, beauty treatments and relaxation.

Organisers are asking individuals and businesses to get in touch if they can offer bite-size beauty treatments, workshops or tutorials on a complimentary basis to attract visitors to the event.

Though the preschool cannot offer payment, those who are able to donate their time may hand out business cards, take bookings for future appointments or share special offers to attract new customers.

The pre-school is inviting arts practitioners and hobbyists to sell their work during the evening. Each table will cost £10, as well as a small donation from your stall to include in a charity raffle.
