A TWO-vehicle smash closed a New Forest road on Sunday afternoon.

No one was hurt in the collision, which took place on the A338 at Ibsley near Fordingbridge, although paramedics, police officers and firefighters were all called to the scene.

Chris Wheeler, who took photographs of the crash when told there had been no injuries, was travelling aboard a double-decker bus caught up in delays.

He said: "It appears that a four-by-four travelling in the direction of Ringwood had a broken rear wheel.

"It seems that the vehicle may have been in a collision with a white car travelling in the opposite direction, and the front of that car was very badly damaged.

"One of the vehicles had been towing a trailer probably six to eight feet tall, and that appeared to be full of rubbish which was strewn all over the road.

"The trailer had collapsed in a ditch and hedge on the side of the road coming towards Ringwood."

Following the crash, police closed the road closed because of a fuel spillage.
