THE Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for today as gales sweep in from the south west.
Gusts of 45-50mph are expected, with the possibility of 60-65mph winds in some exposed areas.
The Met Office says: "Given that this is one of the first gales of the autumn, the public should be aware of the risk of localised disruption, possibly affecting travel and late holiday activities.
"Gusts will be particularly strong near to heavy showers, and may be enough to cause some damage to trees which are still in full leaf."
It's due to brighten a little tomorrow, interspersed with scattered showers, with highs of 17 degrees, before the bad weather rolls in, bringing with it very windy conditions.
Night temperatures are set to fall to lows of 12 degrees this evening and tomorrow, slightly warmer Wednesday and Thursday - at 13 degrees and 14 degrees respectively - following the rain.
But Friday should see some more sunshine trying to burst through the clouds.
