BARCLAYS Bank has said it is ‘investigating urgently’ after customers were unable to access online banking, take cash out or buy goods in shops today (Friday October 30).

Keith Winham from Ringwood was left unable to use the Barclays Bank High Street cash machine in the town after his card would not work in a supermarket store.

He said: "I don't know what the problem is but I can't use my card at all and I have been paid today, so I know there is not a problem with my account.

"I can't buy anything from my current account and its Friday evening. I am quite cross about it because it is my only current account card and I will be forced to use my credit card."

A Barclays spokesperson confirmed that some customers were experiencing technical issues affecting Barclays Bank website, mobile banking and debit card usage.

"We’re urgently investigating this and apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
