AN elderly man has gone missing from his home in Verwood.
John Berville, 87 and of Lake Road, was last seen at his home in the town at 10.30 this morning.
He is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of medium build and with white hair and a small beard.
He was wearing dark grey trousers, a green bomber jacket and a flat cap.
Chief Inspector Steve White, of Dorset Police, said: “I understand that John was feeling upset this morning and that he has left the house without his keys and his walking stick. He has difficulty walking and so this behaviour is completely out of character for him.
“We are becoming increasingly concerned for John and I am urging anyone who knows where he may be to please call Dorset Police urgently.
“If John sees this appeal, I would urge him to make contact with us. We simply want to ensure that you are safe and well.”
East Dorset officers are currently searching Verwood and the surrounding area.
