FIREFIGHTERS in Fordingbridge are blazing ahead with a major fund raising campaign and is calling on the community for their support.

The fire service will be raising money for the Firefighters Charity, a charity set up in 1943 out to help wounded firefighters and provide support to their families during World War II.

Today the charity help members of the fire and rescue community who put their lives on the line every day and provide support for their families.

Nine Fordingbridge firefighters will be tackling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon as part of the Three Peaks Challenge - climbing all three in less than 24 hours.

And the firefighters will reel out their hose pipes for the Charity Car Wash on Saturday February 27 from 9am in the main car park.

Firefighter Pete White said: "It would be great if everyone comes out and supports us on the day of the car wash. Each car is £5."
