SOUNDS Like Fun (SLF) community choir in Fordingbridge raised the roof and £850 for charities.

The choir of 40 women sang their hearts out at their annual Christmas concert earlier this month at St Marys Hall which was well received by audiences who said it was a "wonderful night out" and "amazingly powerful".

The choir provided free refreshments for everyone and there was a raffle of prizes which raised a "fabulous amount" for the two causes - Shelter Box and STARS who provide support to families and help research for reflex anoxic seizures.

Musical director Sheila Dursley, who was highly praised for the standard of the choirs singing, said: "It's amazing how music touches everyone who comes into contact with it, SLF certainly spread some cheer, and I felt so proud to be involved with such a lovely group of ladies."

Roz Bradbury, who organises the group, also praised all the members who worked so hard to ensure the concert was first class, and thanked everyone for attending and being so supportive of the two nominated charities.
