KENYAN orphans have received donations of toys from Ringwood.
The items were donated by Toy Exchange and Donate Scheme (TEDS) in Ringwood to be given out to the children by Kate Mitchell who has flown out to Mombasa to volunteer at the Casuarina House Orphanage in Utange, eastern Kenya.
The donations came about after a chance conversation between Kate and Dana Elsworth, of TEDS, in a radiotherapy waiting room in Southampton Hospital last year during their respective treatment for breast cancer.
Dana said: "We had great fun choosing toys, games, musical items and books that are educational, age appropriate and lots of fun. These children will now have the chance to learn new skills including sewing, crochet, reading and working with numbers, all vital to help educate them out of poverty.
"This though, can only happen with the support of amazing people like Kate, who are willing to donate their personal time and energy to others and to travel to Africa to be there for the children."
