CHARACTERS from popular children's books leapt off the pages at Fordingbridge Junior School.

Pupils and staff at the school got into the spirit of World Book Day last week with costumes inspired by comic book superheroes, Harry Potter and Roald Dahl characters.

Head teacher Kim Robertson said: "All children from Year 3 to Year 6, teachers and learning support assistants enjoyed a day dressing up and celebrating their favourite book characters.

"The love of reading is a value we continually foster and encourage by offering different experiences for the children, not only during World Book Day but throughout the school year."

Following on from World Book Day pupils will be enjoying a visit from author Chris Connaughton.
