FORDINGBRIDGE firefighter Pete White has been recognised for completing 30 years of service with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Pete, who is the watch manager at Fordingbridge fire station, was presented with his meritorious service medal at the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Celebrating Success event on Thursday.
He said: “It was nice to get my 30 year medal especially as it was presented by our current Chief Officer Dave Curry who is retiring at the end of December.
“I feel very lucky to have been able to serve the Fordingbridge community for the last 30 years and the job has brought me lots of pleasure and I have made some fantastic friends and worked with some very special people. I will look back in years to come with a lot of pride I am sure.”
Pete joined the then Hampshire Fire Brigade at the age of 18 and his first ever “shout” was to a window frame on fire at the house of a local GP.
Since then he has attended thousands of incidents ranging from thatch roof fires, road accidents, house fires, animal rescues, major flooding and even cats up trees.
