A SCHOOL is warning its students to be vigilant after reports a man exposed himself to a schoolgirl.

Parents of children who attend Ringwood School received a message from deputy head teacher Clare Adams on Thursday about a ‘suspicious male’ who was seen near the school.

She said police had asked the school to “advise students to be vigilant on their way to and from school and to immediately report anything that they are concerned about”.

Staff will be stationed at the school’s gates at the start and end of the day following the incident.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said the incident was reported to have happened between 8.55am and 9.05am on Thursday.

“We are currently investigating a report of a man who exposed himself to a school girl close to Ringwood School,” they said.

“The man didn’t say anything to the girl and didn’t touch her. Following the incident he walked off in the direction of Kingsfield.

“Parents and students are being urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to police by calling 101.”

Officers carried out extra patrols near to the school as students travelled home at the end of the school day on Thursday.
