CREATIVE carvers unleashed their talents in the Forest this weekend as ghoulish faces adorned walls and windowsills in preparation for Halloween.
Using new tools to bring their imaginative creatures to life, 25 children carved, cut and cooked their pumpkins into scary faces before enjoying a pumpkin lunch in Woodgreen village hall. They also baked Halloween cakes and decorated spookily shaped biscuits as part of a Big Lottery-funded workshop programme, helping people see locally grown and sustainable sources of produce.
Event organiser Andrea Finn said: “The children have developed wonderful caricatures using some new tools and displayed great imagination and commitment.”
More workshops for people wishing to express their inner creativeness and find out about their local community are planned as lottery funding has secured a programme of events until January 2013.
