A VILLAGE school’s tiniest children were entranced by a shiny new tractor as part of their ‘moving and journeys’ topic.
Reception class youngsters at Alderholt’s St James First School were treated to the sight of the big blue New Holland beast, which was driven into the playground by pupil George Kane’s father Bernie.
Tony McCarthy, who runs C&O Tractors in Wilton, accompanied his gleaming machine and answered probing questions from the children, such as how many buttons and levers it has and what they do, and how the small wheels were able to turn at the same time as the big wheels.
Reception teacher Kathryn Cousins said: “We’re studying all types of vehicles and finding out what they do and why they’re built like they are.
“This is the first vehicle we’ve had for them to see in the playground but we’re hoping to arrange for more.”
