Verwood’s Methodist minister Nigel Deller, heaadteacher Roger Withey and PTFA chairman Lynne Arnold open the new play equipment with the children of Hillside First School.
CHILDREN at Hillside First School in Verwood have declared their new £8,000 play equipment “awesome”.
A fundraising campaign involving a pancake flipping afternoon, a Christmas bazaar and a summer fair were held to create the wooden paradise.
The Parent, Teacher and Friends Association chose local firm Wood Themes to build the equipment, which was delayed by bad weather.
Methodist minister Nigel Deller and headteacher Roger Withey helped Year 2’s oldest girl Isabelle Clein, seven, and the youngest boy Jake Turner, six, officially open the equipment, surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd of pupils and parents.
The first children to play on the equipment were the members of the School Council.
