Residents urged to report flood hotspots

NEW Forest residents are being urged to help Hampshire County Council prepare the county against flooding.
Under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the council now has a new role as a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), which involves managing the flood risk related to groundwater, surface water and watercourse flooding.
The Environment Agency remains responsible for coastal and river flooding.
As part of the council’s role, it is developing a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and needs residents to highlight flooding hotspots in their area.
A six-week online consultation begins from the end of the month, with information used to help assess flood risk and develop plans to prepare for the future.
Councillor Mel Kendal, the county council’s deputy leader, said: “Any help residents can give us is much appreciated.”

Maybe they should first ask Highways dept, after the fields its the roads that flood around here. Either no drainage or blocked or poorly designed ones!
Perhaps they should fine themselves for not doing their job properly!
