A RETIRING governor at Moyles Court School has been given a piece of artwork by a star student to recognise his dedication.

Colin Andrews retired as the chairman of governors after 20 years of service to the school near Ringwood.

Pupil Jessica Evans, who is an Independent Schools Association regional and national art exhibition winner, gave him a gift of one of her pictures before taking up her boarding and art scholarship to attend Hampshire Collegiate School Sixth Form this term.

Mr Andrews said: “When the headmaster Greg Meakin asked me what I would like as a souvenir of the school, I told him a picture would be lovely. I expected a nice photo, not a commissioned work from an up and coming artist.”

Mr Andrews, who is leader of 1st Poulner Scouts, also continues as a provider of Forest Schools education for the school.

He and his wife Lindsay joined teachers at Moyles Court to build a Forest Classroom during the summer holidays as part of a training day to develop outdoor education at the school.
