A ROYAL Mail director from Verwood has become a singing sensation after appearing on the BBC hit show The Choir.
Tim Barber, 54, of Albion Road, was shown on episode two of the new series of the show, watched by three million people, forming a choir with posties and other staff from Bristol.
He will next be seen battling it out with three other workplace choirs, directed by Gareth Malone, in episode five on October 18.
Mr Barber, who is married to Helen and is father to David, 29, James, 26, and Jade, 21, has worked for the Royal Mail for 30 years, having started as a postman.
He said: “I had never sung in public before apart from karaoke, but I somehow got recruited to be in the show.
“There was some angst at the beginning, as we’re a business that’s going through a lot of change, but you can see us gel as a choir by the end of the episode. Gareth is a bit of a genius – his enthusiasm and passion just shine through.We are now determined to carry on as a choir and we’re going to try to raise £25,000 for Prostate Cancer UK, which the company has promised to match.”
