Ladies in Pigs get to work in new kitchen
4:19pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in Rural Focus
BPEX chairman Stewart Houston handed over the keys to a plush new mobile kitchen to Ladies in Pigs recently. The wagon will be used to cook tens of thousands of dishes at shows across the country in years to come.
The levy body funded the first mobile kitchen more than 15 years ago, which has now been decommissioned. It has also stumped up the money for the new vehicle.
Ladies in Pigs chairman Sue Woodhall said: “The new kitchen has a modern look with different graphics from the old one to promote the message of farm assured pork and Trust The Tractor. We are very grateful to BPEX and also to other people in the industry who helped pay for some of the contents.”
Mr Houston said: “The ladies have done a magnificent job over many years and the industry owes them a huge debt. BPEX was only too happy to fund this new demonstration mobile kitchen.”
Ladies in Pigs work to increase the awareness, consumption and value of Red Tractor pork, bacon, ham and sausages.
