Farmers offered unique insight
ENERGY crop processor Terravesta is offering farmers and landowners a unique insight into the future of the Miscanthus market at a free meeting on March 4 in Bradford-on-Avon, west Wiltshire.
The meeting offers prospective and existing Miscanthus farmers the chance to hear about the huge commercial opportunity perennial energy crops offer UK growers – as well as other key factors that will continue to drive demand for years to come.
Attendees can also ask experts any questions they may have and benefit from professional advice on all aspects of profitable growing and harvesting this crop.
The meeting is one of four half-day regional meetings taking place at locations across the country.
William Cracroft-Eley, Miscanthus grower and Terravesta chairman, said: “The energy crops market has come a long way in recent years and 2014 is set to be the best yet. We have already seen prices soar to an all-time high of £73+/tonne and, thanks to long-term index-linked contracts, growers can rest assured that returns will only continue to improve.
“What’s more, demand for UK-grown Miscanthus is still far outstripping supply, so new planting remains a crucial priority.
“Terravesta is urging anyone with an interest in diversifying their land or increasing their Miscanthus area to come along to the meeting.
Not only will the team be sharing best-practice advice on how to get optimum yields and best profits from the crop on a day-to-day basis, the wider factors boosting market growth, including highestever returns, increased supplier demand and volatile weather, will also be explored.”
