A BED and breakfast near Salisbury has won an award for its dedication to hen welfare.
Lancers House in Sutton Mandeville was awarded a Good Egg Award by Compassion in World Farming to recognise their humane sourcing of eggs.
Nik Little of Lancers House said: “It is absolutely tremendous for us to be recognised in this way. We have had a humbling 12 months since winning a South Wilts Business of the Year Award, which was then followed earlier this year with a National Breakfast Award.” Compassion launched the Good Egg Awards in 2007 to celebrate organisations that only source cage-free eggs. The scheme has been expanded in recent years to include the Good Chicken Award, Good Dairy Award, and the Good Pig Award.
Tracey Jones, director of food business at Compassion said: "It is so great to see Lancers House taking animal welfare into consideration.
“Well done to Lancers House – keep up the good work."
