Learn about dormice
3:13pm Wednesday 15th August 2012 in Rural Focus By Anne Connon
THE RSPB would like to invite people to join them in Garston Wood while they carry out a survey of one of Britain’s most heavily protected species: the hazel dormouse. During the day people will learn about this small, elusive mammal’s habits, the environment in which it lives and, hopefully, get to see one.
There are limited places available, so anyone wishing to attend should telephone the RSPB office on 01929 553360 for the opportunity to watch the Garston Wood dormouse monitoring team in action and learn all about the life of the dormouse. Tickets cost £3 for RSPB members, £6 for nonmembers and there is no charge for accompanied children.
Garston Wood is on the minor road between Sixpenny Handley and Bowerchalke. The event will take place from 10am until noon on Saturday, September 15.
