ORPINGTON commuters can rejoice after Connex South Eastern has promised more trains to London, and additional seats.

Increased demand and growing complaints about overcrowding have forced Connex to provide better services.

Customer Relations Manager Simon Eden said: "Our winter timetables start on Sept 27. An additional 1,000 seats will be added to the Kent coast services to London going through Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks routes."

Underwriter Chris King, 26, of Felstead Road, Orpington commutes to Canon Street every day. He said: "It's about time. The service has been well below par, especially considering season ticket prices have gone up every year."
