A MAN who emigrated to Canada 50 years ago has returned to the village he was born in and launched an appeal for old friends to contact him.
Will Hoskins left Green Street Green in 1948, aged 14, with his mum, dad, two sisters and "the clothes on our backs".
After a five-day journey, the family arrived in Edmonton, Canada, to set up a new life.
Mr Hoskins married Norma in 1954 and stayed in Edmonton. He decided to come back to Green Street Green to mark the 50th anniversary of his leaving.
He is staying with friends and can be contacted through Jim or Kathy Smallwood on 01689 861723.
