BROMLEY has launched a fight to defend its status as the capital's most lovely borough.The borough is once again in bloom, despite the disappointing weather, and the council is confident it can defend its position as winner of the London in Bloom competition 1997. It aims to make the country's capital more attractive. Twenty three mayors joined Bromley's new mayor, Peter Ayers, at the launch.
Mr Ayers said: "This is a wonderful way to kick off my year in office, by welcoming my fellow mayors from all over London to Bromley. It's important for all Londoners, whether residents or visitors, that we all make the effort to enhance the natural beauty of our Boroughs."
Bromley will compete in the Britain in Bloom competition and has already launched its own Borough in Bloom competition to find the prettiest parts of Bromley. For details call in at your local library or leisure centre.
