Regarding the wild parakeets in Borehamwood: they are, in fact, Monk parakeets and have been breeding in Borehamwood successfully since 1993, and are well established by now.
I wake up most mornings to see any number from three to 35 sitting in my trees eating monkey nuts. It's a sight I will never get used to.
