Footbal festival at Avon Valley
TEAMS from nine primary schools took part in a football festival at Avon Valley College.
It was a mixed competition with ten teams taking part and a girls’ competition with four teams competing and students from the college officiated the games. A team from Amesbury Primary School won the girls’ competition and will go forward to the county final in Chippenham on January 23.
Castle Primary School, Ludgershall and Clarendon Junior School, Tidworth both won their groups in the mixed competition and must now play each other to decide who goes forward to the county final.
• Avon Valley College also hosted an indoor athletics festival for Year 2 and Year 6 pupils from Bulford St Leonard’s, Netheravon and Figheldean primary schools earlier this month.
The children had a go at six events – foam javelin, speed bounce, vertical jump, chest push, standing long jump and balance test – and then finished the festival with a relay race.
Six Year 10 students from Avon Valley College volunteered to run the stations.
