SALISBURY District Hospital has been recognised for the high standards of its keyhole surgery theatres.

The hospital received the maximum score and a gold rating in a national audit of specialist laparoscopic keyhole surgery theatres.

Both operating theatres, supported by the Stars Appeal’s Keyhole Cancer Campaign, provide surgeons with fully integrated high definition imaging equipment.

Surgeons do about 2,300 laparoscopic procedures a year at the hospital.

Consultant surgeon Helen Chave said: “We’re hugely grateful to the Stars Appeal and its supporters for playing a major role in funding much of the equipment which makes this work possible.”
