A POLICE officer who claimed on his insurance for stolen goods which hadn’t been stolen has been sentenced to 175 hours of unpaid work.
Jozef Sztucki, 41, from Tisbury, was found guilty of ten counts of fraud by false representation, and was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court today.
Sztucki, who reported the loss to the insurance company following a burglary at his house in Salisbury, also received a six-month custodial sentence suspended for two years for each offence, to run concurrently.
A statement issued on behalf of the Chief Inspector of Professional Standards Adrian Griffiths at Wiltshire Police, said: “We can confirm that he was a serving Wiltshire Police officer at the time of the offences, but that he has since resigned. The incident was not related to his police duties.
“Wiltshire Police expects the highest standards of integrity and professionalism from all officers and staff and Jozef Sztucki’s behaviour fell well below these standards. “Any inappropriate behaviour by officers or staff whether on or off duty, will be investigated and action taken.”
