20 is Plenty campaign in Amesbury
A CAMPAIGN has been launched to reduce the speed limit on roads within the rural Amesbury area.
The 20 is Plenty campaign was launched at the Bowman Centre in Amesbury on Thursday. Eighteen of the 22 parishes within the Amesbury rural community area went along to show their support.
Representatives from Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police agreed to work with the volunteer group, which was formed three months ago. The first step in the plan to reduce speeding includes educating drivers, pedestrians, and parish and town councils.
Chairman of the group, cllr Graham Wright, said: “It is very rewarding to see so many people from all walks of life working towards a common goal. We need to work as closely as possible with the highways department, and I encourage all parishes and towns to continue flagging up their speeding issues to me.”
The group’s next meeting will be held in January at a date to be confirmed and anyone who wants to report a speeding issue can email email@example.com.
