Train services still disrupted

SOUTH West Trains plans to run a normal train service tomorrow – however services between Salisbury and London will be affected by planned engineering work on the line between Basingstoke and Andover.

A revised timetable is running today due to the snow although the company says the service is running well and extra trains are being added where possible.

South West Trains says is plans to run a normal Sunday service tomorrow on journeys west of Salisbury. However buses will be replacing trains between Andover and Basingstoke due to engineering work which will make journey times longer.

A decision on the timetable for Monday will be taken and announced to passengers tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, said: "We took the decision to operate a special timetable today following heavy snowfall yesterday and freezing conditions overnight. However, as services are currently running well, we are also now able to start reinstating services to some stations that were not initially served by the special timetable. We are pleased to be returning to a normal Sunday service tomorrow, although would remind passengers that planned engineering work will be taking place on some parts of the network throughout the day. "We are aware that further snow is currently predicted for Sunday and Monday so we will make a decision tomorrow on the timetable that will run on Monday to allow passengers to plan their journeys. We would continue to advise passengers to check for service updates before they travel."
