The 68-year-old businessman and 62-year-old businesswoman were arrested by HM Revenue & Customs criminal investigators at a residential property near Salisbury on Thursday.
As well as the residential property, a business address in Andover has been searched and investigations are ongoing. The pair have been bailed until May 23.
Bob Gaiger, HM Revenue & Customs spokesman, said: “HMRC take tax fraud seriously and will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds. Anyone with information about people who may be involved in VAT fraud can contact the customs hotline on 0800 595000.”
