HMV accepting gift vouchers

HOPES over the future of collapsed music chain HMV have been raised after its debt was bought by the restructuring business behind HMV Canada.

The entertainment retailer, which has a store in the Old George Mall, Salisbury, went into administration last week.

Hilco UK has now taken on the debt from lenders Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland, in a move effectively giving it control of the business.

The company was appointed adviser to HMV’s administrator Deloitte on Monday.

HMV also began accepting gift vouchers on Tuesday and Deloitte announced the firm would now be able to pay money raised for various charities in full.
