Brain tumour symptoms cards to be sent to schools

CARDS that help people recognise the symptoms of a childhood brain tumour are being distributed to every school in Wiltshire as part of a new initiative.
The HeadSmart cards will be sent out to every school in the county by Wiltshire Council to encourage awareness among parents, teachers and carers of symptoms that should be checked out by a doctor.
HeadSmart is an initiative run by The Brain Tumour Charity and aims to reduce the length of time it takes for tumours to be diagnosed, and so to get sufferers treated more promptly.
Wiltshire Council has agreed to send out enough cards for every schoolchild in the county.
HeadSmart co-ordinator Toni Sidwell said: “We have been working hard to get symptoms cards into the hands of every single parent in the country and we hope that other coundils will follow Wiltshire’s fantastic example and help raise awareness of brain tumours in children and young people.”
