THE HMV store in the Old George Mall, Salisbury is to remain open despite the closure of many branches across the country.

Administrator Deloitte has announced 66 stores earmarked for closure in the next two months, affecting 930 staff.

The entertainment retailer went into administration in January and Hilco UK has since taken on the debt from lenders Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Nick Edwards, joint administrator, said: “As part of our ongoing review of HMV’s financial position, we have now completed a review of the store portfolio and have identified 66 loss making stores for closure.

“This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.”
