Grant for art project

AN art project in Laverstock has received a £2,400 funding boost from Wiltshire Council.

The 5x5x5=creativity project will see local artists work with children at Old Sarum Primary School and in the wider community, supporting toddlers and their families, at the Community Rooms.

It aims to support greater community cohesion across age groups and backgrounds.

The grant was approved at a meeting of the Southern Wiltshire Area Board in Winterslow on January 31.

It is hoped the project will benefit about 300 adults and children in the coming year.

Penny Joyce, who helps organise community projects in Old Sarum, said: “Old Sarum is a great place to be. Historically it has had a bad reputation but there are really exciting things happening. The project has done great work and we would like to continue it.”

• A GRANT of £300 was also awarded to Winterslow Youth Zone to buy a new table tennis table.
