TWO community shops are among projects to receive a share of £38,000 in grants.

The South West Wiltshire Area Board awarded the money to 11 community projects including Dinton Community Shop, which received £5,000, at a meeting held on February 6.

Chalke Valley Community Hub, which is due to replace the existing Broad Chalke Shop when it closes in May, also received £5,000.

Mere Town Football Club was awarded £5,000 for maintenance and equipment, while the youth football club was awarded £1,250 towards a storage container.

South Newton Cricket Club received £5,000 for a replacement grass mower, as did Bishopstone Village Hall, for an audio-visual system.

Fovant Village Hall was awarded £4,000 towards fixing the roof, while the parish council was given £2,125 for the village playground.

Barford St Martin Parish Council got £4,018 towards rejuvenating its playing field, and Compton Chamberlayne Cricket Club received £960 to restore cricket nets.

Hindon Parish Council will replace play equipment in its playground with a grant of £1,250.
