A NEW activity holiday designed specifically for Wiltshire teenagers with learning disabilities and autism is being planned for this summer, but the organisers need more support to make it happen.

Organised by Bristol-based Brandon Trust, the initiative follows an online survey carried out on behalf of the charity by the Wiltshire Parent Carer Council, to gauge interest and opinions from families for the proposed summer break.

But the trust is now appealing for more fundraising support to help meet the £11k cost of the project, which will provide places for 20 youngsters aged 14 to 18 from the county.

The all-inclusive holiday will be held at Boreatton Park, Shropshire and will include wheelchair accessible accommodation, experienced 24-hour support and fully supervised activities tailored to individual needs.

Brandon Trust development manager Andy Bright said: “As a charity, we want to provide more opportunities for young people, but without fundraising we are not going to able to run summer camps at Brandon Trust.

“For many youngsters coming on this trip, it will be their first holiday on their own without their parents. It’s going to be a lot of fun and provides an opportunity some might not otherwise have.”
