Still time to join sleep out

THERE is still time to sign up sponsored sleep out at Salisbury Cathedral.

Last year 120 brave volunteers dug out their sleeping bags and spent the night on the floor of the cathedral’s cloisters to help raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness and raise funds for Alabaré Christian Care’s Salisbury Drop In Centre at Alabaré Place.

The drop in centre offers hot food and drink, washing and laundry facilities, clothing and sleeping bags and advice and guidance to homeless and vulnerable adults.

The charity wants this year’s event to be bigger than ever, and MP John Glen and Right Reverend Edward Condry, the Bishop of Ramsbury are already signed up to take part, along with a number of young people from local schools and youth groups.

The sleep out will take place overnight on March 1. To take part call Heather Hitchins on 01722 322882 or to sponsor the event go to alabare.co.uk/events.php.
