Man taken to hospital following crash on A338

AN 88-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after a car crash on the A338 near Downton at the weekend.

The man, from Fordingbridge, was driving a Rover 400, which was in collision with a black Audi driven by a 50-year-old man from Salisbury.

The accident happened by the unclassified road to Nunton just before 5pm on Sunday and the road between Downton and Britford was closed for four-and-a-half hours.

The Rover driver was taken to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
