A TEENAGER who has raised £2,500 for Help for Heroes over the past two years received a hero’s welcome when he visited Tedworth House.

The charity’s recovery centre set up the surprise visit for Simon Parker during half term.

In order to raise funds for his chosen charity, the 15-year-old from Brighton has organised sponsored walks and school events in addition to selling merchandise at local supermarkets.

During his visit he was given a tour of the centre and the tin hut – where Help for Heroes started – and got to meet some residents.

Tedworth House centre manager, Giles Woodhouse, said: “Help for Heroes is so thankful for Simon’s incredible efforts. We were delighted to show him around Tedworth House, so he could see the fruits of his labours. “Everyone at Help for Heroes is really pleased he enjoyed his surprise visit, as a reward for all his hard fundraising efforts.”

Tedworth House is one of four UK-wide Recovery Centres run by Help for Heroes, which forms part of the Defence Recovery Capability.
