Broken Cross opening delayed again

WORK at the Broken Cross Rail Bridge on the A338 has been delayed again.

The road was set to open on Saturday but will now be closed until Monday  due to “lower than predicted temperatures”.

The A338, from St Thomas’ Roundabout to the junction of Hurdcott Lane, has been closed since October 27 and was originally due to reopen on February 14.

Network Rail says that “weather permitting” the road will reopen by 6am on Monday.

Current diversions remain in place.

Joke!!!!!
"Lower than predicted temperatures|".
Just another excuse for poor planning, inept management and downright lying to the local population.
You people wouldn't last 2 minutes in the private sector where we are all accountable.

Probably not helped by a few inconsiderate, selfish drivers disregarding the road closure signs and insisting on driving through, consequently damaging the newly laid Tarmac and setting the work back for everyone. Certain individuals were actually seen removing the barriers placed across the road for safety!

Agree with Champers. Tarmac had to be re-laid not just once! Kerbstones had to be re-set, all due to selfish drivers ignoring the plentiful signs warning the road was closed and insisting on driving through the works area churning up fenced off areas and leaving safety fencing left open. As a Ford resident, I note traffic has devastated Fords verges, hedgerows and property during the works, and now we fully expect that rather than using the new bridge drivers will come down Ford Lane instead, as it looks like the more attractive option - travesty all round.

I never thought Carillion were a good band in the 80s and it seems they aren't very good at civil engineering either :s

I've had a look at the font of all knowledge,Wikipedia, and found out ironically Carillions hit albums were:
Happiness is the Road 2008 (a bit of an oxymoron I think) This Strange Engine 1997 ( knew there would be a train connection somewhere) Clutching at Straws 1987 (well, we knew that following the meeting at the Glebe Hall) Somewhere Else 2007 (which probably where they wish they were now) and Brave 1994 (probably a reference to their MD)

Who can forget their 1982 hit "Market Square Heroes".

We need them to do a charity gig to save salisbury's own market square from the council vandals who seem determined on destroying all that is good in his city.

Spending £4 million of our money to destroy a much used central car park.

Madness!

As well as Carrillion being private contractors the people responsible for road repairs are private contractors and we all know about potholes. Also you can blame road delays in Harnham on the private contractors laying new gas mains.
